What we look like
I am a Wasp, my body is hairless like the swimmers in the Olympics; I have black and yellow rings and I am approximately a third of an inch to an inch in length.
I am a Hornet; the way you can tell me apart from the Wasp is not by hair because I too am hairless but by the size and the different colours of our bodies. I’m bigger and the rings on my body are black and white.

Both I, the wasp and my larger cousin the Hornet are so talented. We build paper based nests that can surround or invade your house, under verandas, in ceilings or attics; even in walls. We can be in your tress and shrubs; some of us Wasps take our talents to another level and build nests underground.
It’s not all bad having us around because we will eat unwanted insects while we share spaces but you can’t control where we build our nests and our priority is to protect our colony so if we feel threatened, don’t underestimate our size, we will sting you and that sting can be extremely dangerous, even fatal in some cases.
